Permanent Mold Casting
Avkem International’s permanent mold casting products are designed to provide efficient, cost-effective solutions for multiple operations. Permanent mold casting is a metal casting process that employs reusable molds (“permanent molds”), usually made from metal. The most common process uses gravity to fill the mold, however gas pressure or a vacuum are also used. The permanent mold process is very similar to that of sand casting, and typically a permanent mold part has less porosity than a die-cast part, which means they can be machined more easily after production. Parts produced via the permanent mold process can also create opportunities for sand cores to produce higher design complexities than traditional die-cast. Parts can range in size from less than a pound to several hundred pounds.
Avkem understands that metal molds are significant cost drivers but our experts can work with customers to achieve their goals with solutions unique to their operations. Our experienced team can provide fast, reliable products, taking into account everything from property requirements and size, to production rate and design complexity.
Our team works to be more than just a metals industry supplier.
