Avkem lost-foam casting products provide efficient, cost-effective solutions for operations through improved insulation and metal quality throughout the process. Lost-foam casting is a type of evaporative-pattern casting process that is similar to investment casting, except foam is used for the pattern instead of wax. This process takes advantage of the low boiling point of foam to simplify the investment casting process by removing the need to melt the wax out of the mold. Patterns for lost-foam casting can be hand cut, machined, or even cut with a hot wire foam cutter. Then patterns are coated to create a better surface for eventual pouring. Commonly cast metals include cast irons, aluminum, steels, and nickel alloys; less frequently stainless steels and copper alloys are also cast.
Our team works to be more than just a metals industry supplier. Avkem’s goal is to build long-term partnerships with not just our customers, but with suppliers, employees, and the communities in which we operate, to maximize short term and long term value. Avkem International has seven locations across North America, including a flux factory in Mexico and a foundry manufacturing facility in Tennessee. Contact us HERE.
