David joined AVKEM, previously known as Basic Resources, Inc., in 2007. The following year, he was named President and in 2011, began his tenure as CEO. In his 14 years of experience in the industry, he also served as the Chief Financial Officer for ARC Automotive. David graduated from University of Tennessee with a degree in Finance.
Laurence has been with AVKEM since 2007. His 23-year career also includes serving as a consultant with The Recovery Group (now Deloitte CRG) and as the Purchasing Manager for PPC Insulators. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he earned a degree in Finance.
Chief Financial Officer
Greg brings 22 years of experience to AVKEM as a leader in finance operations. He was the CFO at DenTek Oral Care (PE owned), the Vice President of Finance at Ruby Tuesday as well as Gaylord Entertainment. He is a CPA and earned an accounting degree at Emory & Henry College and an MBA from Vanderbilt University.
Vice President of Operations
Robert is responsible for managing the day to day tactical direction of Avkem’s manufacturing and supply chain operations in the United States and Mexico. He joined Avkem in 2010 as the Refractory Product Line Manager. Prior to coming to Avkem, he worked for Container Technologies, Intex Enterprises, and PPC Insulators in production, procurement, and business management roles. Robert holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Tusculum College.
Operating Partner & Chairman of the Board
With more than 30 years of executive operation experience, Maurice provides regular, on-site leadership to AVKEM International. He served as CEO of PPC Insulators. His turnaround work with Riverside Company took EBITDA from $2M to $20M in only four years. He has also served as CEO for Morgan Advanced Materials. Maurice graduated from Queens University in Kingston, Canada with a degree in Engineering.

Paul brings 20 years of investment experience to AVKEM. He is the Founder of Deer Creek Holdings, a private equity firm. He also co-founded Century Park Capital Partners, a $265 Million lower middle market private equity firm. He also served as the Senior Vice President of Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin (PE investments). Paul earned a degree in Biology from the University of Kansas and an MBA from UCLA.
